Marjorie "Jorie" Faith Rottier

Marjorie "Jorie" Faith Rottier, age 19, of Crown Point, Indiana, entered into the presence of her Lord on Monday, June 8, 2026, following a tragic accident in DeMotte. Born on April 27, 2007, Jorie was the cherished daughter of Richard and Laura (Hamstra) Rottier. From the moment she entered this world, Jorie brought joy, kindness, and a gentle spirit to all who knew her. She graduated from DeMotte Christian High School, Salutatorian, with the Class of 2025 and recently completed her freshman year at Purdue University, where she was eagerly pursuing her future while embracing new experiences and friendships. Jorie spent her days in the summer caring for several children including the Rodriquez girls. Her nurturing heart, patience, and genuine love for children made her a natural caregiver and a trusted friend. She was a very hard and dependable worker and was employed as an assistant manager at Dairy Queen. She developed many meaningful friendships there. Jorie was an accomplished athlete who participated in volleyball and softball throughout her years at DeMotte Christian High School. Whether on the court, the field, in the classroom, or among friends, she led by example through quiet confidence, compassion, integrity and humor. She loved cooking and baking for those she cared about and found joy in serving others in both large and small ways. Her faith was the foundation of her life. Jorie loved her church family and sought opportunities to help wherever she was needed. She possessed a servant's heart that reflected Christ's light and love in her everyday actions. Those who knew her will remember her calm presence, thoughtful nature, and ability to make others feel welcomed and valued. She was a devoted daughter, a loving sister, a loyal friend, and a natural leader whose influence reached far beyond her years. Though her time on earth was far too short, Jorie's life was filled with purpose, faith, and love. The memories she created and the lives she touched will remain a lasting gift to all who knew her. Jorie is lovingly remembered by her parents, Rich and Laura Rottier; her brother, Gabe Rottier (Ava Koselke); her sister, Laney Rottier; and her loving boyfriend Gerrit Bos. She is also survived by her grandparents, Dan and Carol Rottier and Al and Elaine Hamstra, along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, classmates, and fellow church members who mourn her loss and celebrate her life. Family and friends are invited to gather at First Christian Reformed Church of DeMotte on Monday, June 15, 2026, from 2:00 until 8:00 PM. A funeral service celebrating Jorie's life and faith will be held at Community United Reformed Church in Schererville on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at 11:00 AM, with Pastor Jim Alblas officiating. Interment will follow at Holland Cemetery.
