Delmar E. Lindahl

Delmar Eugene Lindahl, age 90, of Rensselaer, Indiana, formerly of Roselawn, passed away on Friday, April 3, 2026, in Lafayette, Indiana. He was born on October 12, 1935, in Fair Oaks, Indiana, to Charles and Violet (Roadruck) Lindahl, who preceded him in death. Delmar graduated from Mt. Ayr High School with the Class of 1953. He married the love of his life, Barbara Jean Carlson, on April 14, 1956, in Thayer, Indiana. She preceded him in death on April 3, 2008, exactly 18 years prior. Delmar worked in route sales and distribution for Archway Cookies and Bozeman Oil and previously delivered milk for Pleasant View Dairy. He also proudly served as a member of the Indiana National Guard. Delmar was deeply involved in his community—he was one of the original founders of the Lincoln Township Volunteer Fire Department, volunteered for Meals on Wheels, and served as a Little League coach. He enjoyed pitching horseshoes at the Shelby Lions Club and bowling in local senior bowling leagues. He was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and Purdue basketball. He is survived by his sons, Lewis Lindahl of Rensselaer, Indiana, and David (Suzanne) Lindahl of Rensselaer, Indiana; his grandchildren, Keith Lindahl of Lowell, Indiana, Kurt Lindahl of Lowell, Indiana, Jennifer Lindahl of Rensselaer, Indiana, Jeremy (Brianna) Lindahl of Francesville, Indiana, Payton (Tashiyana) Lindahl of Austin,Texas, and Miranda Lindahl of Indianapolis, Indiana; and ten great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Richard (Jeanie) Lindahl of Thayer, Indiana, Thomas (Carolyn) Lindahl of Shelby, Indiana, and Larry (Kim) Lindahl of Noblesville, Indiana, along with many nieces and nephews. Delmar was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Barbara; his brother, Charles “Bud” Lindahl; his sisters, Donna Thomas and Phyllis Curtis; his great-grandson, Gavin Ray Wheeler; his sister-in-law, Dorothy Lindahl; and his brothers-in-law, Alan Curtis and Alfred Thomas. Private services will be held at a later date. Integrity Funeral Service of Wheatfield has been entrusted with cremation rites. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lincoln Township Volunteer Fire Department or the Rensselaer Volunteer Fire Department.
